Hey, I'm Laura
Hey, I'm Laura
It’s lovely to meet you!
I’m a social media strategist and a creator, and I’m one of the few who knows what it’s like on both sides of the industry.
I’ve worked in social media for eleven years - since 2012, and across my career I’ve specialised in social media and influencer marketing for brands, creator strategy and I pride myself on knowing Instagram, YouTube and TikTok inside out!
I’d love to fill you in on everything I do and maybe, just maybe, I can help you too.
My career so far
My start in the industry
-
Back when I was a brunette and practically a teenager (😂) my first social media role was in the travel industry. I was a Social Media and Content Exec for TUI, managing the social pages for four adventure travel brands, which I loved.
During my time at TUI I went on an eight week sabbatical where I travelled around the world solo! It was an amazing first role and I’m so grateful to everything I learnt there.
Next up, Canon
-
Leading the social media and influencer strategy at Canon UK was another dream role. I was the first social media hire for the UK and Ireland team (back in 2015, social was still quite new for brands!) so as you can imagine, there was A LOT to do and I loved the challenge.
I’d grown up loving photography so working for one of my dream brands - in a marketing and comms team of 40, was a privilege.
And now…
-
I’ve been working for myself since early 2020, building my little corner of the internet at Influence Tomorrow.
I specialise in supporting both creators and small businesses with their social and sort of accidentally, I’ve become a creator myself.
I’ve had a lot of imposter syndrome myself around being a creator, but I’m embracing it now and I’m really proud to have grown such a supportive, friendly community.
Things that I’m especially proud of
(And I’m learning that you’ve got to blow your own trumpet if you work for yourself!)
I practise what I preach: social media is all about building a community who cares about you and what you do (because YOU care about them. It’s a two way street!). I post 3-4 times a week, showing up to share my advice.
There are 100,000 of us in my Instagram community, which is such an honour. In 2023 I was also nominated for a B Creator award in the business category for the work I do over there. (The B Creator awards is the big influencer awards in the UK, so that just feels insane to me!)
At Canon, we ran the best creator events and I’m so proud of what we created. Our instameets were one of those “secret, but not so secret” things that always blew up: we opened up an abandoned tube station in London, put on a gig in the caves of Somerset House, hired out some of the coolest rooftops in London - the list goes on!
Another part of my role at Canon was social media coaching; I worked with the best professional photographers in the UK to support them with their social. I held two week-long coaching sessions at Wimbledon (yes, THE wimbledon!) and visited the Royal Navy HQ, as well as supporting the management team with their personal social media accounts too.
And something I’m hugely proud of is the relationships I’ve built, I never take what I do for granted. Social media is deeply personal (your heart goes in to every post!) so it always feels like an honour when a creator, brand or somebody who’s just starting out decides to work with me.
